FAQ
The 40G QSFP+ to 10G SFP+ Adapter Converter Module, also known as a QSA, is a compact passive adapter designed to enable a 10G SFP+ transceiver or DAC/AOC to be installed in a compatible QSFP+ port. It provides a practical way to connect 10Gbps SFP+ devices to network equipment with QSFP+ interfaces, helping organizations reuse existing 10G optical resources when migrating, expanding, or restructuring their network infrastructure.
Featuring a robust zinc-alloy housing, secure latching structure, controlled 100-ohm differential impedance, and optimized high-speed signal paths, the adapter is designed to minimize insertion loss, crosstalk, pair-to-pair skew, and EMI. Its plug-and-play design requires no external power supply or configuration, making it suitable for data centers, enterprise networks, optical network upgrades, and other environments where flexible port utilization is required.| Interface 1 | QSFP+ |

OEM and customized QSA solutions are available for network equipment manufacturers, system integrators, distributors, and large-scale infrastructure projects. Customization and production support may include product labeling, branding, packaging, mechanical requirements, and project-specific compatibility considerations.
For equipment-specific deployments, customers can provide the target switch or network platform, required SFP+ module type, quantity, and application environment for compatibility evaluation. This helps ensure that the adapter is suitable for the intended host equipment and network architecture.
Does the QSA module convert a 40G signal into a 10G signal?
The QSA is primarily a physical and electrical interface adapter rather than an active protocol converter. It allows a compatible 10G SFP+ module or cable to be used in a QSFP+ port. The host equipment must support the required 10G breakout or port configuration; the adapter itself does not independently convert a 40Gbps data stream into a 10Gbps stream.
Can I use any 10G SFP+ transceiver with this adapter?
Compatibility depends on the QSFP+ host equipment and its supported port modes. The adapter is designed to accommodate compatible SFP+ transceivers, DACs, or AOCs, but the host switch or router must support the corresponding 10G operating configuration. Checking the equipment manufacturer’s compatibility list is recommended for deployment.
Does the adapter require an external power supply?
No. The QSA does not require a separate power source. Electrical power is supplied through the host QSFP+ interface according to the applicable interface specifications.
What is the benefit of the all-metal housing?
The zinc-alloy housing provides mechanical protection while helping improve electromagnetic shielding around the high-speed electrical interface. This is particularly useful in high-density networking environments where multiple high-speed ports operate in close proximity.
Can the QSA be used for network migration?
Yes. One of its primary uses is facilitating network migration and transition. For example, when network equipment provides QSFP+ ports but existing optical resources are based on SFP+, a compatible QSA can allow those 10G resources to be used without immediately replacing every existing transceiver or cable.
Is the QSA suitable for high-density data center deployments?
Yes. Its compact form factor, passive design, low signal loss, and secure latching structure make it suitable for dense rack environments. However, actual compatibility and supported operating modes should always be verified against the specific switch, router, or other QSFP+ host platform.
