FAQ
The MTP Female to 8 LC Duplex Breakout Cable is a high-density single-mode fiber assembly designed to distribute an MTP connection into eight individual LC duplex interfaces. It combines a US Conec MTP® female connector with LC UPC duplex connectors, providing a direct and organized connection between high-density backbone cabling and equipment or patching systems using LC interfaces. The ruggedized fanout structure protects and organizes the individual fibers while helping reduce cable congestion and rack space requirements.
The cable uses OS2 9/125μm single-mode fiber with an LSZH sheath, making it suitable for installations where low-smoke and halogen-free cable materials are preferred or required. Corning ClearCurve® glass fiber can be specified for low attenuation and reliable long-distance transmission at 1310nm and 1550nm. Factory termination and 100% optical and end-face testing help ensure consistent performance for data centers, telecommunications infrastructure, broadband networks, and other high-density fiber applications.| Connection Structure | MTP to LC Duplex |

OEM and customized MTP-to-LC breakout assemblies can be manufactured according to specific network and equipment requirements. Customers can customize cable length, breakout length, fiber type, jacket material, connector brand, connector configuration, MTP polarity, fiber mapping, and other assembly parameters.
Custom cable identification, labeling, packaging, and private-label production are also available for OEM and volume projects. Assemblies can be produced according to customer drawings, technical specifications, or samples to ensure compatibility with existing cabling infrastructure.
Why is an LSZH sheath useful in indoor network installations?
LSZH materials are designed to produce low levels of smoke and no halogen gases when exposed to fire. This makes LSZH cable construction suitable for many indoor environments where smoke reduction and material characteristics are important considerations, such as data centers, telecommunications facilities, commercial buildings, and enclosed equipment areas.
Is the MTP female connector compatible with any MTP interface?
Not necessarily. MTP connector gender, polarity, fiber position mapping, and key orientation all need to match the mating interface and optical link design. The female MTP connector is pinless and is intended to mate with a compatible male MTP connector equipped with guide pins.
Why are LC duplex connectors used for the breakout side?
LC duplex connectors provide two optical fibers within a compact connector format, making them well suited for conventional duplex optical links. They allow the individual fiber pairs from a high-density MTP connection to be connected directly to equipment or patching ports without requiring separate connectorization at the installation site.
Can the eight LC duplex connections be used for different equipment ports?
Yes. Each LC duplex branch provides an independent two-fiber connection and can be connected to a corresponding duplex optical interface. The exact fiber mapping and polarity should be confirmed against the equipment and MTP link architecture before deployment.
What is the advantage of using a ruggedized breakout structure?
A ruggedized breakout structure provides additional mechanical protection and maintains the organization of the individual fibers as they transition from the MTP connector to the separate LC branches. This is particularly useful in rack environments where repeated handling and cable routing can place additional stress on the breakout section.
